Food production

Paddy is a significant crop of crops produced by Khedapara Union. Jute is the place after rice. After that, the names of the agricultural products which are to be named as masakalai, peas, peas etc. are pulse grains. Oil seeds include mustard seeds and sesame seeds. Cowan, sugar, sorghum, wheat, barley, etc. The food grains are produced. The important fruits here are futi (melons), watermelon, khira etc. Besides, fruits like mango, jackfruit, jackfruit, guava, coconut, betel nut, palm, date-lamb, lemon, tamarind, kamranga, olive oil, bell, pomegranate, and so on are also abundant. Chillies, onions, garlic, coriander, ginger, spices, gourds, sweet pumpkin, rice pumpkin, peas, charcoal, jhunga, dhumandula, beans, borbati, kakral, lentils, round potatoes, brinjal, tomato cauliflower, cabbage etc. Vegetables are produced in abundance.

Apart from the fact that the government has tried to make political advantages by making the country self-reliant in food, it does not match the reality. Government documents prove that the government imported 28.43 lakh tonnes of food grains from abroad till February 2014-15. That is, in the year 9 months, this amount of food has to be imported. This information was given in the book 'Bangladesh Economic Survey 2015' which was released from the Ministry of Finance.

The economic survey book is also published every year during the budget. This year was no exception. Studies show that in the first 9 months of the current fiscal year 2014-15, the total rice import was 8.69 lakh tonnes from July 2014 to February 2015. At the same time wheat was imported 19.74 lakh tons. In all, 9.44 lakh tons of total food imported in 9 months. It is said that in the government sector, 0.72 lakh tonnes of wheat has been imported. The remaining 27.71 lakh tons of food grains have been imported in the private sector. Of this, rice is 8.69 lakh tonnes and wheat 19.02 lakh tonnes. It is said that no rice was officially imported this year. In addition to encouraging bumper yield, market value control and satisfactory stock situation, the government has exported 25,000 tonnes of fat rice to Sri Lanka. This is the first time that rice export is said to be the first time, according to the study.
According to the Economic Survey of 2015, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics estimates the total production of food grains in the 2014-15 fiscal year will be 3 million 83 lakh 49 thousand metric tons. Among them, aus 23 lakh 28 thousand tonnes, aman 1 crore 31 lakh 90 thousand tonnes, boro 1 crore 89 lakh 77 thousand tonnes, wheat 13 lakh 33 thousand tonnes and corn 25 lakh 21 thousand tonnes. The total production of food grains in the last 013-14 fiscal year was 338 million 74 thousand tonnes. In the current 2014-15 fiscal year, the target of 15 million 50 thousand tonnes of food grains has been set.
Regarding import of food grains, the Economic Survey also said that in the last financial year 2013-14 fiscal, the amount of total grain imported by government and private sector was 31 lakh 24 thousand tonnes. Of this rice is imported 3 lakh 74 thousand tonnes and wheat 27 lakh 50 thousand tonnes were imported. According to the survey, 9.88 million tonnes of food grains are imported in government form. The remaining 21 lakh 36 thousand tonnes of food is imported into the private sector. In the private sector rice imported 3,71,000 tons and wheat was imported 17 million 65 thousand metric tons.
